Magneton 28/110 · Legendary Collection
Legendary Collection is a set in the Other series. It was released on 24 May 2002. The printed size is 110, and the checklist is the same length. Magneton is 28/110, in position 28 of 110 on this checklist. Before it is 27 Kabutops, and after it is 29 Mewtwo. The listed rarity is Rare.
Magneton is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 35. In the Pokédex this is Magneton (#082), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Magnemite. In this catalog that name is Magnemite (#081). The card lists Magnezone, Magnezone (#462) under evolves to.
Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.
Magneton (#082) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 33 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Magneton 9/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Keiji Kinebuchi illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 27 other cards of Magneton list a different HP.
The attack Sonicboom lists 20 damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless. Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for this attack. (Any other effects that would happen after applying Weakness and Resistance still happen.) Selfdestruct is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Lightning, Lightning. Does 20 damage to each Pokémon on each player's Bench. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Magneton does 100 damage to itself. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Formed by several Magnemites linked together. They frequently appear when sunspots flare up."
I keep a set binder for Legendary Collection, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Legendary Collection set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magneton can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
