Mewtwo 14/53 · Wizards Black Star Promos

Mewtwo is Pokédex #150, generation 1 (Kanto). Mewtwo is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 60.

Mewtwo sits at 14/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos, position 14 of 53. Before it is 13 Venusaur, and after it is 15 Cool Porygon. The set belongs to the Base series. It was released on 1 July 1999. The printed size is 53, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Energy Absorption lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic. Choose up to 2 Energy cards from your discard pile and attach them to Mewtwo. Psyburn is another attack lists 40 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Years of genetic experiments resulted in the creation of this never-before-seen violent Pokémon."

Mewtwo (#150) has 88 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 42 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Mewtwo 10/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Benimaru Itoh illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 80 other cards of Mewtwo list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Benimaru Itoh. I count 1 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Wizards Black Star Promos set binder is where a full Wizards Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Mewtwo can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
