Whimsicott 11/98 · Emerging Powers

Emerging Powers is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on 31 August 2011. The printed size is 98, and the checklist is the same length. Whimsicott is 11/98, in position 11 of 98 on this checklist. Before it is 10 Cottonee, and after it is 12 Whimsicott. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Whimsicott is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Whimsicott (#547), generation 5 (Unova). The card says it evolves from Cottonee. In this catalog that name is Cottonee (#546).

sui illustrated this card. The same name is on 194 other cards in the catalog.

Whimsicott (#547) has 22 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Whimsicott 12/98 in Emerging Powers (2011). Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Mizue illustrated that card, and sui illustrated this one. 18 other cards of Whimsicott list a different HP.

The attack Helping Hand lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Search your deck for a basic Energy card and attach it to 1 of your Benched Pokémon. Shuffle your deck afterward. Cotton Guard is another attack lists 30 damage. The cost is Grass. During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to this Pokémon by attacks is reduced by 30 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -20. The flavor text reads "Like the wind, it can slip through any gap, no matter how small. It leaves balls of white fluff behind."

I keep a set binder for Emerging Powers, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Emerging Powers set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Whimsicott can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
