Sawk 59/98 · Emerging Powers

Emerging Powers is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on 31 August 2011. The printed size is 98, and the checklist is the same length. Sawk is 59/98, in position 59 of 98 on this checklist. Before it is 58 Throh, and after it is 60 Sandile. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Sawk is a Basic Fighting Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Sawk (#539), generation 5 (Unova).

Kouki Saitou illustrated this card. The same name is on 652 other cards in the catalog.

Sawk (#539) has 7 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 6 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Sawk 62/114 in Black & White (2011). Both list 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Naoki Saito illustrated that card, and Kouki Saitou illustrated this one. 2 other cards of Sawk list a different HP.

The attack Five Fierce Chops lists 20× damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. Flip 5 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads. This Pokémon can't attack during your next turn. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Tying their belts gets them pumped and makes their punches more destructive. Disturbing their training angers them."

I keep a set binder for Emerging Powers, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Emerging Powers set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sawk can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
