Volcarona 21/101 · Noble Victories

Noble Victories is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on 16 November 2011. The printed size is 101. This checklist is longer, at 102 cards. Volcarona is 21/101, in position 21 of 102 on this checklist. Before it is 20 Larvesta, and after it is 22 Tympole. The listed rarity is Rare.

Volcarona is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Volcarona (#637), generation 5 (Unova). The card says it evolves from Larvesta. In this catalog that name is Larvesta (#636).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Volcarona (#637) has 20 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Volcarona BW40/101 in BW Black Star Promos (2011). Both list 110 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Shin Nagasawa illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 1. 16 other cards of Volcarona list a different HP.

The attack Fiery Dance lists 30 damage. The cost is Fire. Attach a basic Energy card from your discard pile to 1 of your Pokémon. Heat Wave is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Burned. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "When volcanic ash darkened the atmosphere, it is said that Volcarona's fire provided a replacement for the sun."

I keep a set binder for Noble Victories, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Noble Victories set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Volcarona can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
