Galvantula 43/108 · Dark Explorers

Dark Explorers is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on 9 May 2012. The printed size is 108. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Galvantula is 43/108, in position 43 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 42 Joltik, and after it is 44 Tynamo. The listed rarity is Rare.

Galvantula is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Galvantula (#596), generation 5 (Unova). The card says it evolves from Joltik. In this catalog that name is Joltik (#595).

Akira Komayama illustrated this card. The same name is on 239 other cards in the catalog.

Galvantula (#596) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 13 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Galvantula 46/114 in Black & White (2011). Both list 80 HP. Both list the rarity Rare. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Akira Komayama illustrated this one. 12 other cards of Galvantula list a different HP.

The attack Quick Turn lists no damage number. The cost is Lightning. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 20 damage times the number of heads. Electrisilk is another attack lists 30+ damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon has no Retreat Cost, this attack does 40 more damage. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "They employ an electrically charged web to trap their prey. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it."

I keep a set binder for Dark Explorers, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Dark Explorers set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Galvantula can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
