Kakuna 2/116 · Plasma Freeze

Kakuna is Pokédex #014, generation 1 (Kanto). Kakuna is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Weedle. In this catalog that name is Weedle (#013). The card lists Beedrill, Beedrill (#015) under evolves to.

Kakuna sits at 2/116 in Plasma Freeze, position 2 of 122. Before it is 1 Weedle, and after it is 3 Beedrill. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on 8 May 2013. The printed size is 116. This checklist is longer, at 122 cards. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

The attack Hide lists no damage number. The cost is Grass. Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokémon during your opponent's next turn. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "While awaiting evolution, it hides from predators under leaves and in nooks of branches."

Kakuna (#014) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 21 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Kakuna 33/102 in Base (1999). Both list 80 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Keiji Kinebuchi illustrated that card, and match illustrated this one. 6 other cards of Kakuna list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads match. I count 143 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Plasma Freeze set binder is where a full Plasma Freeze set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Kakuna can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
