Electrode BW76/101 · BW Black Star Promos

BW Black Star Promos is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on 1 March 2011. The printed size is 101, and the checklist is the same length. Electrode is BW76/101, in position 76 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is BW75 Metagross, and after it is BW77 Pikachu. The listed rarity is Promo.

Electrode is a Stage 1 Team Plasma Lightning Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Electrode (#101), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Voltorb. In this catalog that name is Voltorb (#100).

5ban Graphics illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,629 other cards in the catalog.

Electrode (#101) has 45 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 39 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Electrode 21/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Promo. Keiji Kinebuchi illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 43 other cards of Electrode list a different HP.

The attack Electribeam lists 20 damage. The cost is Lightning. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is Paralyzed. Self Destruct is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. This Pokémon does 100 damage to itself. Weakness is Fighting ×2. The flavor text reads "It is known to drift on winds if it is bloated to bursting with stored electricity."

I keep a set binder for BW Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the BW Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Electrode can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
