Sandslash 61/123 · Mysterious Treasures

Mysterious Treasures is a set in the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on 1 August 2007. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. Sandslash is 61/123, in position 61 of 124 on this checklist. Before it is 60 Quilava, and after it is 62 Sealeo. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Sandslash is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 37. In the Pokédex this is Sandslash (#028), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Sandshrew. In this catalog that name is Sandshrew (#027).

Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card. The same name is on 408 other cards in the catalog.

Sandslash (#028) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 21 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Sandslash 41/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Atsuko Nishida illustrated this one. 20 other cards of Sandslash list a different HP.

The attack Spike Armor lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. During your opponent's next turn, if Sandslash is damaged by an opponent's attack (even if Sandslash is Knocked Out), put 4 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon. Poison Spike is another attack lists 60 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon already has any damage counters on it, that Pokémon is now Poisoned. Weakness is Water +20. Resistance is Lightning -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It curls up, then rolls into foes with its back. Its sharp spines inflict severe damage."

I keep a set binder for Mysterious Treasures, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Mysterious Treasures set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sandslash can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
