Arbok 3/165 · Expedition Base Set

Expedition Base Set is a set in the E-Card series. It was released on 15 September 2002. The printed size is 165, and the checklist is the same length. Arbok is 3/165, in position 3 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 2 Ampharos, and after it is 4 Blastoise. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Arbok is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Arbok (#024), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Ekans. In this catalog that name is Ekans (#023).

Kyoko Umemoto illustrated this card. The same name is on 174 other cards in the catalog.

Arbok (#024) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Arbok 31/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Kyoko Umemoto illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 17 other cards of Arbok list a different HP.

The attack Poison Spray lists no damage number. The cost is Grass. The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Poison Reaction is another attack lists 20+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon is Poisoned, this attack does 20 damage plus 20 more damage. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Expedition Base Set, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Expedition Base Set set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Arbok can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
