Swellow 45/97 · Dragon

Dragon is a set in the EX series. It was released on 24 November 2003. The printed size is 97. This checklist is longer, at 100 cards. Swellow is 45/97, in position 45 of 100 on this checklist. Before it is 44 Snorunt, and after it is 46 Vibrava. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Swellow is a Stage 1 Colorless Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Swellow (#277), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Taillow. In this catalog that name is Taillow (#276).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Swellow (#277) has 13 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Swellow 46/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). Both list 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. 7 other cards of Swellow list a different HP.

The attack Clutch lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. The Defending Pokémon can't retreat until the end of your opponent's next turn. Quick Dive is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. This attack does 50 damage to that Pokémon. This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness or Resistance. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30.

I keep a set binder for Dragon, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Dragon set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Swellow can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
