Team Magma's Houndoom 10/95 · Team Magma vs Team Aqua

Houndoom is Pokédex #229, generation 2 (Johto). Team Magma's Houndoom is a Stage 1 Fire Darkness Pokémon with 70 HP. The card says it evolves from Team Magma's Houndour. In this catalog that name is Houndour (#228).

Team Magma's Houndoom sits at 10/95 in Team Magma vs Team Aqua, position 10 of 97. Before it is 9 Team Magma's Groudon, and after it is 11 Team Magma's Rhydon. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on 1 March 2004. The printed size is 95. This checklist is longer, at 97 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Roasting Heat lists 30+ damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon is Burned, this attack does 30 damage plus 20 more damage. Magma Spurt is another attack lists 30× damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Discard the top 5 cards from your deck. This attack does 30 damage times the number of Fire and Fighting basic Energy cards discarded in this way. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: This Pokémon is both Fire Darkness type.

Houndoom (#229) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 30 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2025. The earliest other card is Houndoom 4/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card is named Houndoom, while this one is Team Magma's Houndoom. Both list 70 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Shin-ichi Yoshida illustrated that card, and Ken Ikuji illustrated this one. 32 other cards of Houndoom list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Ikuji. I count 16 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Team Magma vs Team Aqua set binder is where a full Team Magma vs Team Aqua set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Houndoom can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon and Team Aqua and Team Magma. I still need this card.
