Rocket's Moltres ex 100/109 · Team Rocket Returns

Team Rocket Returns is a set in the EX series. It was released on 1 November 2004. The printed size is 109. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Rocket's Moltres ex is 100/109, in position 100 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 99 Rocket's Mewtwo ex, and after it is 101 Rocket's Scizor ex. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Rocket's Moltres ex is a Basic ex Darkness Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Moltres (#146), generation 1 (Kanto).

Ryo Ueda illustrated this card. The same name is on 462 other cards in the catalog.

Moltres (#146) has 43 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 28 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Moltres 21/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Moltres, while this one is Rocket's Moltres ex. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 40 other cards of Moltres list a different HP.

Dark Lift is listed as Poké-Body. If Rocket's Moltres ex has any Darkness Energy attached to it, the Retreat Cost for Rocket's Moltres ex is 0. The attack Fire Dance lists 30 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. Search your discard pile for a Fire Energy card and attach it to 1 of your Pokémon. Combustion is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Colorless. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: When Pokémon-ex has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Team Rocket Returns, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Team Rocket Returns set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Moltres can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon, Team Rocket cards, and Legendary birds. I still need this card.
