Blaine's Ninetales 21/132 · Gym Challenge

Ninetales is Pokédex #038, generation 1 (Kanto). Blaine's Ninetales is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 60 HP. The card lists level 27. The card says it evolves from Blaine's Vulpix. In this catalog that name is Vulpix (#037).

Blaine's Ninetales sits at 21/132 in Gym Challenge, position 21 of 132. Before it is 20 Sabrina, and after it is 22 Brock's Dugtrio. The set belongs to the Gym series. It was released on 16 October 2000. The printed size is 132, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

Healing Fire is listed as Pokémon Power. Whenever you attach a Fire Energy card from your hand to Blaine's Ninetales, remove 1 damage counter from it, if it has any. This power stops working when Blaine's Ninetales is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. The attack Burn Up lists 50 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire. Flip a coin. If tails, discard all Fire Energy cards attached to Blaine's Ninetales. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 2.

Ninetales (#038) has 55 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 41 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ninetales 12/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Ninetales, while this one is Blaine's Ninetales. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 55 other cards of Ninetales list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Gym Challenge set binder is where a full Gym Challenge set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ninetales can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon, Kanto Gym Leaders and their Pokémon, Blaine and his Pokémon, and Vulpix and Ninetales. I still need this card.
