Lugia LEGEND 113/123 · HeartGold & SoulSilver

HeartGold & SoulSilver is a set in the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on 10 February 2010. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. Lugia LEGEND is 113/123, in position 113 of 124 on this checklist. Before it is 112 Ho-Oh LEGEND, and after it is 114 Lugia LEGEND. The listed rarity is LEGEND.

Lugia LEGEND is a LEGEND Water Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lugia (#249), generation 2 (Johto).

Shinji Higuchi illustrated this card. The same name is on 3 other cards in the catalog.

Lugia (#249) has 38 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lugia 9/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card is named Lugia, while this one is Lugia LEGEND. That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is LEGEND. Hironobu Yoshida illustrated that card, and Shinji Higuchi illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 31 other cards of Lugia list a different HP.

Ocean Grow is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn, when you put Lugia LEGEND into play, you may look at the top 5 cards of your deck and attach all Energy cards you find there to Lugia LEGEND. Discard the other cards. The attack Elemental Blast lists 200 damage. The cost is Fire, Water, Lightning. Discard a Fire Energy, Water Energy, and Lightning Energy attached to Lugia LEGEND. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 1. The card text says: Put this card from your hand onto your Bench only with the other half of Lugia LEGEND. The flavor text reads "It is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm."

I keep a set binder for HeartGold & SoulSilver, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the HeartGold & SoulSilver set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lugia can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Pokémon LEGEND and All Lugia cards. I still need this card.
