Smoochum HGSS13/25 · HGSS Black Star Promos

Smoochum is Pokédex #238, generation 2 (Johto). Smoochum is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 30 HP. The card lists Jynx, Jynx (#124) under evolves to.

Smoochum sits at HGSS13/25 in HGSS Black Star Promos, position 13 of 25. Before it is HGSS12 Cleffa, and after it is HGSS14 Lapras. The set belongs to the HeartGold & SoulSilver series. It was released on 10 February 2010. The printed size is 25, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

Sweet Sleeping Face is listed as Poké-Body. As long as Smoochum is Asleep, prevent all damage done to Smoochum by attacks. The attack Energy Antics lists no damage number. Move an Energy card attached to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon to another of your opponent's Pokémon. Smoochum is now Asleep. The flavor text reads "Its lips are the most sensitive part of its body. It always uses its lips first to examine things."

Smoochum (#238) has 7 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2024. The earliest other card is Smoochum 54/64 in Neo Revelation (2001). Both list 30 HP. The rarity there is Common, and here it is Promo. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Midori Harada illustrated this one. 3 other cards of Smoochum list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Midori Harada. I count 352 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

HGSS Black Star Promos set binder is where a full HGSS Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Smoochum can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Baby Pokémon. I still need this card.
