Onix 9/12 · McDonald's Collection 2019

McDonald's Collection 2019 is a set in the Other series. It was released on 15 October 2019. The printed size is 12, and the checklist is the same length. Onix is 9/12, in position 9 of 12 on this checklist. Before it is 8 Mankey, and after it is 10 Alolan Meowth.

Onix is a Basic Fighting Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Onix (#095), generation 1 (Kanto). The card lists Steelix, Steelix (#208) under evolves to.

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Onix (#095) has 29 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Onix 56/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 25 other cards of Onix list a different HP.

The attack Screech lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. During your next turn, the Defending Pokémon takes 20 more damage from attacks (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Rage is another attack lists 10+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting. This attack does 10 more damage for each damage counter on this Pokémon. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It usually lives underground. It searches for food while boring its way through the ground at 50 miles per hour."

I keep a set binder for McDonald's Collection 2019, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the McDonald's Collection 2019 set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Onix can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
