Chikorita 54/111 · Neo Genesis

Chikorita is Pokédex #152, generation 2 (Johto). Chikorita is a Basic Grass Pokémon with 50 HP. The card lists level 19. The card lists Bayleef, Bayleef (#153) under evolves to.

Chikorita sits at 54/111 in Neo Genesis, position 54 of 111. Before it is 53 Chikorita, and after it is 55 Chinchou. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on 16 December 2000. The printed size is 111, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Common.

The attack Growl lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon attacks Chikorita during your opponent's next turn, any damage done to Chikorita is reduced by 10 (before applying Weakness and Resistance). (Benching or evolving either Pokémon ends this effect.) Razor Leaf is another attack lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its pleasantly aromatic leaf has the ability to check the humidity and temperature."

Chikorita (#152) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Chikorita 53/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 40 HP, and this one lists 50 HP. Both list the rarity Common. Naoyo Kimura illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. 10 other cards of Chikorita list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Genesis set binder is where a full Neo Genesis set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Chikorita can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Johto starters. I still need this card.
