Cyndaquil is Pokédex #155, generation 2 (Johto). Cyndaquil is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 40 HP. The card lists level 14. The card lists Quilava, Quilava (#156) under evolves to.

Cyndaquil sits at 56/111 in Neo Genesis, position 56 of 111. Before it is 55 Chinchou, and after it is 57 Cyndaquil. The set belongs to the Neo series. It was released on 16 December 2000. The printed size is 111, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Common.

The attack Leer lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon can't attack Cyndaquil during your opponent's next turn. (Benching or evolving either Pokémon ends this effect.) Swift is another attack lists 20 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness, Resistance, Pokémon Powers, or any other effects on the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It usually stays hunched over. If it is angry or surprised, it shoots flames out of its back."

Cyndaquil (#155) has 18 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 16 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Cyndaquil 57/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 50 HP, and this one lists 40 HP. Both list the rarity Common. Shin-ichi Yoshida illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. 14 other cards of Cyndaquil list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Neo Genesis set binder is where a full Neo Genesis set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Cyndaquil can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Johto starters. I still need this card.
