Gyarados-GX 16/68 · Hidden Fates

Gyarados is Pokédex #130, generation 1 (Kanto). Gyarados-GX is a Stage 1 GX Water Pokémon with 230 HP. The card says it evolves from Magikarp. In this catalog that name is Magikarp (#129).

Gyarados-GX sits at 16/68 in Hidden Fates, position 16 of 69. Before it is 15 Magikarp, and after it is 17 Lapras. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 23 August 2019. The printed size is 68. This checklist is longer, at 69 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo GX.

The attack Dragon Rage lists 130 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water, Colorless. Hyper Beam-GX is another attack lists 240 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water, Colorless. (You can't use more than 1 GX attack in a game.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The card text says: Pokémon-GX rule: When your Pokémon-GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Gyarados (#130) has 56 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 38 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Gyarados 6/102 in Base (1999). That card is named Gyarados, while this one is Gyarados-GX. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 230 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo GX. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 55 other cards of Gyarados list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Hidden Fates set binder is where a full Hidden Fates set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Gyarados can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Magikarp and Gyarados. I still need this card.
