Steelix 139/236 · Cosmic Eclipse

Steelix is Pokédex #208, generation 2 (Johto). Steelix is a Stage 1 Metal Pokémon with 170 HP. The card says it evolves from Onix. In this catalog that name is Onix (#095).

Steelix sits at 139/236 in Cosmic Eclipse, position 139 of 272. Before it is 138 Alolan Sandslash, and after it is 140 Mawile. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 1 November 2019. The printed size is 236. This checklist is longer, at 272 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Thumping Fall lists 50× damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Discard any number of Pokémon with a Retreat Cost of exactly 4 from your hand. This attack does 50 damage for each card you discarded in this way. Iron Tail is another attack lists 100× damage. The cost is Metal, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 100 damage for each heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "Tempered underground under high pressure and heat, its body is harder than any metal."

Steelix (#208) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 24 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Steelix 15/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 110 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and KEIICHIRO ITO illustrated this one. 30 other cards of Steelix list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads KEIICHIRO ITO. I count 50 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Cosmic Eclipse set binder is where a full Cosmic Eclipse set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Steelix can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
