Alolan Marowak 12/131 · Forbidden Light

Forbidden Light is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 4 May 2018. The printed size is 131. This checklist is longer, at 150 cards. Alolan Marowak is 12/131, in position 13 of 150 on this checklist. Before it is 11 Pheromosa, and after it is 13 Heatran. The listed rarity is Rare.

Alolan Marowak is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Marowak (#105), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Cubone. In this catalog that name is Cubone (#104).

Suwama Chiaki illustrated this card. The same name is on 102 other cards in the catalog.

Marowak (#105) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Marowak 39/64 in Jungle (1999). That card is named Marowak, while this one is Alolan Marowak. That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Suwama Chiaki illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 16 other cards of Marowak list a different HP.

The attack Limbo Limbo lists no damage number. Search your deck for up to 2 basic Energy cards and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like. Then, shuffle your deck. Alolan Club is another attack lists 20× damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 20 damage for each of your Pokémon in play that has Alolan in its name. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Its custom is to mourn its lost companions. Mounds of dirt by the side of the road mark the graves of the Marowak."

I keep a set binder for Forbidden Light, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Forbidden Light set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Marowak can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Alolan forms. I still need this card.
