Lucario SM54/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on 3 February 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Lucario is SM54/248, in position 55 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM53 Dhelmise, and after it is SM55 Decidueye. The listed rarity is Promo.

Lucario is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lucario (#448), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Riolu. In this catalog that name is Riolu (#447).

Anesaki Dynamic illustrated this card. The same name is on 134 other cards in the catalog.

Lucario (#448) has 59 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 40 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lucario 6/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Anesaki Dynamic illustrated this one. 54 other cards of Lucario list a different HP.

Stance is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon during your turn, you may prevent all effects of your opponent's attacks, including damage, done to this Pokémon until the end of your opponent's next turn. The attack Submarine Blow lists 120 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Fighting. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Not only does it perceive auras, but it has also gained the power to control them. It employs them in battle."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lucario can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Riolu and Lucario. I still need this card.
