Butterfree 12/165 · 151

Butterfree is Pokédex #012, generation 1 (Kanto). Butterfree is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 130 HP. The card says it evolves from Metapod. In this catalog that name is Metapod (#011).

Butterfree sits at 12/165 in 151, position 12 of 207. Before it is 11 Metapod, and after it is 13 Weedle. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 22 September 2023. The printed size is 165. This checklist is longer, at 207 cards. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

The attack Whirlwind lists 60 damage. The cost is Grass. Switch out your opponent's Active Pokémon to the Bench. (Your opponent chooses the new Active Pokémon.) Bye-Bye Flight is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. Shuffle that Pokémon and all attached cards into their deck, and then shuffle this Pokémon and all attached cards into your deck. If your opponent has no Benched Pokémon, this attack does nothing. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It collects honey every day. It rubs honey onto the hairs on its legs to carry it back to its nest." The regulation mark is G.

Butterfree (#012) has 24 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Butterfree 33/64 in Jungle (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Tika Matsuno illustrated this one. 19 other cards of Butterfree list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Tika Matsuno. I count 48 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

151 set binder is where a full 151 set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Butterfree can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Bug Pokémon, Modern living dex: the 151, and Berries and fruit. I still need this card.
