Omastar 139/165 · 151

Omastar is Pokédex #139, generation 1 (Kanto). Omastar is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Omanyte. In this catalog that name is Omanyte (#138).

Omastar sits at 139/165 in 151, position 139 of 207. Before it is 138 Omanyte, and after it is 140 Kabuto. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 22 September 2023. The printed size is 165. This checklist is longer, at 207 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Primordial Tentacles is listed as Ability. As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, your opponent's Active Pokémon can't retreat. The attack Aqua Split lists 90 damage. The cost is Water, Water. This attack also does 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "Omastar's sharp fangs could crush rock, but the Pokémon can attack only the prey that come within reach of its tentacles." The regulation mark is G.

Omastar (#139) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2022. The earliest other card is Omastar 40/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Akira Komayama illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 3. 16 other cards of Omastar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Akira Komayama. I count 239 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

151 set binder is where a full 151 set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Omastar can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Fossil Pokémon and Modern living dex: the 151. I still need this card.
