Hisuian Basculin 44/196 · Lost Origin

Lost Origin is a set in the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 9 September 2022. The printed size is 196. This checklist is longer, at 217 cards. Hisuian Basculin is 44/196, in position 44 of 217 on this checklist. Before it is 43 Abomasnow, and after it is 45 Hisuian Basculegion. The listed rarity is Common.

Hisuian Basculin is a Basic Water Pokémon with 50 HP. In the Pokédex this is Basculin (#550), generation 5 (Unova).

Oswaldo KATO illustrated this card. The same name is on 84 other cards in the catalog.

Basculin (#550) has 10 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 8 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Basculin 35/114 in Black & White (2011). That card is named Basculin, while this one is Hisuian Basculin. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 50 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Common. Naoyo Kimura illustrated that card, and Oswaldo KATO illustrated this one. 8 other cards of Basculin list a different HP.

The attack Surprise Attack lists 40 damage. Flip a coin. If tails, this attack does nothing. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Though it differs from other Basculin in several respects, including demeanor—this one is gentle—I have categorized it as a regional form given the vast array of shared qualities." The regulation mark is F.

I keep a set binder for Lost Origin, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Lost Origin set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Basculin can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). Themed lists that include this exact card are Hisuian and Paldean forms. I still need this card.
