Melmetal 130/189 · Darkness Ablaze

Melmetal is Pokédex #809, generation 7 (Alola). Melmetal is a Stage 1 Metal Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Meltan. In this catalog that name is Meltan (#808).

Melmetal sits at 130/189 in Darkness Ablaze, position 130 of 201. Before it is 129 Meltan, and after it is 131 Cufant. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 14 August 2020. The printed size is 189. This checklist is longer, at 201 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Energy Link lists 30 damage. The cost is Metal. Attach an Energy card from your discard pile to this Pokémon. Heavy Impact is another attack lists 130 damage. The cost is Metal, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Grass -30. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "At the end of its life-span, Melmetal will rust and fall apart. The small shards left behind will eventually be reborn as Meltan." The regulation mark is D.

Melmetal (#809) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 9 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2017 to 2024. The earliest other card is Melmetal-GX SM178/248 in SM Black Star Promos (2017). That card is named Melmetal-GX, while this one is Melmetal. That card lists 220 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. PLANETA Otani illustrated that card, and NC Empire illustrated this one. 16 other cards of Melmetal list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads NC Empire. I count 35 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Darkness Ablaze set binder is where a full Darkness Ablaze set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Melmetal can fill a slot in Generation 7 binder (Alola). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mythical Pokémon, from Sword & Shield on. I still need this card.
