Salamence V 143/189 · Darkness Ablaze

Salamence is Pokédex #373, generation 3 (Hoenn). Salamence V is a Basic V Colorless Pokémon with 220 HP.

Salamence V sits at 143/189 in Darkness Ablaze, position 143 of 201. Before it is 142 Delcatty, and after it is 144 Salamence VMAX. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 14 August 2020. The printed size is 189. This checklist is longer, at 201 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo V.

The attack Swoop Across lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 30 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Heavy Storm is another attack lists 160 damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: V rule: When your Pokémon V is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. The regulation mark is D.

Salamence (#373) has 30 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Salamence 10/97 in Dragon (2003). That card is named Salamence, while this one is Salamence V. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 220 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo V. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Saki Hayashiro illustrated this one. 29 other cards of Salamence list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Saki Hayashiro. I count 40 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Darkness Ablaze set binder is where a full Darkness Ablaze set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Salamence can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
