Galarian Articuno SWSH282/307 · SWSH Black Star Promos

Articuno is Pokédex #144, generation 1 (Kanto). Galarian Articuno is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 120 HP.

Galarian Articuno sits at SWSH282/307 in SWSH Black Star Promos, position 282 of 304. Before it is SWSH281 Regidrago V, and after it is SWSH283 Galarian Zapdos. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on 15 November 2019. The printed size is 307. This checklist is longer, at 304 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Cruel Charge is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand onto your Bench during your turn, you may attach up to 2 Psychic Energy cards from your hand to this Pokémon. The attack Psylaser lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. Discard all Psychic Energy from this Pokémon. This attack does 120 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Known as Articuno, this Pokémon fires beams that can immobilize opponents as if they had been frozen solid." The regulation mark is E.

Articuno (#144) has 45 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 30 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Articuno 22/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Articuno, while this one is Galarian Articuno. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Shiburingaru illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 32 other cards of Articuno list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Shiburingaru. I count 35 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SWSH Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SWSH Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Articuno can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Legendary birds and Galarian forms. I still need this card.
