Wailord-EX 38/160 · Primal Clash

Primal Clash is a set in the XY series. It was released on 4 February 2015. The printed size is 160. This checklist is longer, at 164 cards. Wailord-EX is 38/160, in position 38 of 164 on this checklist. Before it is 37 Ludicolo, and after it is 39 Barboach. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Wailord-EX is a Basic EX Water Pokémon with 250 HP. In the Pokédex this is Wailord (#321), generation 3 (Hoenn).

Eske Yoshinob illustrated this card. The same name is on 177 other cards in the catalog.

Wailord (#321) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Wailord 14/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card is named Wailord, while this one is Wailord-EX. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 250 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Eske Yoshinob illustrated this one. 22 other cards of Wailord list a different HP.

Water Veil is listed as Ability. Whenever you attach an Energy card from your hand to this Pokémon, remove all Special Conditions from it. The attack High Breaching lists 120 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Water, Water, Water. This Pokémon is now Asleep. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Primal Clash, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Primal Clash set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Wailord can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
