Groudon-EX 85/160 · Primal Clash

Primal Clash is a set in the XY series. It was released on 4 February 2015. The printed size is 160. This checklist is longer, at 164 cards. Groudon-EX is 85/160, in position 85 of 164 on this checklist. Before it is 84 Groudon, and after it is 86 Primal Groudon-EX. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

Groudon-EX is a Basic EX Fighting Pokémon with 180 HP. In the Pokédex this is Groudon (#383), generation 3 (Hoenn).

Ryota Murayama illustrated this card. The same name is on 55 other cards in the catalog.

Groudon (#383) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Groudon ex 2/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card is named Groudon ex, while this one is Groudon-EX. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Kazuo Yazawa illustrated that card, and Ryota Murayama illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 29 other cards of Groudon list a different HP.

The attack Rip Claw lists 30 damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Massive Rend is another attack lists 130 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for Primal Clash, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Primal Clash set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Groudon can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. I still need this card.
