Vespiquen 10/98 · Ancient Origins

Ancient Origins is a set in the XY series. It was released on 12 August 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. Vespiquen is 10/98, in position 10 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is 9 Combee, and after it is 11 Vespiquen. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Vespiquen is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Vespiquen (#416), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Combee. In this catalog that name is Combee (#415).

kawayoo illustrated this card. The same name is on 209 other cards in the catalog.

Vespiquen (#416) has 11 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 10 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2023. The earliest other card is Vespiquen 39/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. 10 other cards of Vespiquen list a different HP.

The attack Intelligence Gathering lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. You may draw cards until you have 6 cards in your hand. Bee Revenge is another attack lists 20+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 10 more damage for each Pokémon in your discard pile. Weakness is Fire ×2. The flavor text reads "Its abdomen is a honeycomb for grubs. It raises its grubs on honey collected by Combee."

I keep a set binder for Ancient Origins, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ancient Origins set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Vespiquen can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Berries and fruit. I still need this card.
