Kyogre-EX XY41/211 · XY Black Star Promos

XY Black Star Promos is a set in the XY series. It was released on 12 October 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. Kyogre-EX is XY41/211, in position 41 of 216 on this checklist. Before it is XY40 Ditto, and after it is XY42 Groudon-EX. The listed rarity is Promo.

Kyogre-EX is a Basic EX Water Pokémon with 180 HP. In the Pokédex this is Kyogre (#382), generation 3 (Hoenn).

Eske Yoshinob illustrated this card. The same name is on 177 other cards in the catalog.

Kyogre (#382) has 32 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Kyogre ex 1/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card is named Kyogre ex, while this one is Kyogre-EX. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Hiromichi Sugiyama illustrated that card, and Eske Yoshinob illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 30 other cards of Kyogre list a different HP.

The attack Water Pulse lists 30 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. Giant Whirlpool is another attack lists 140 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless, Colorless. Return 2 Water Energy attached to this Pokémon to your hand. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

I keep a set binder for XY Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the XY Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Kyogre can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. I still need this card.
