Groudon XY52/211 · XY Black Star Promos

XY Black Star Promos is a set in the XY series. It was released on 12 October 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. Groudon is XY52/211, in position 52 of 216 on this checklist. Before it is XY51 Kyogre, and after it is XY53 Sceptile-EX. The listed rarity is Promo.

Groudon is a Basic Fighting Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Groudon (#383), generation 3 (Hoenn).

Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this card. The same name is on 721 other cards in the catalog.

Groudon (#383) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Groudon ex 2/40 in Nintendo Black Star Promos (2003). That card is named Groudon ex, while this one is Groudon. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. Kazuo Yazawa illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 26 other cards of Groudon list a different HP.

The attack Rock Smash lists 20+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 20 more damage. Break Ground is another attack lists 100 damage. The cost is Fighting, Fighting, Fighting, Colorless. This attack does 10 damage to each of your Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "This legendary Pokémon is said to represent the land. It went to sleep after dueling Kyogre."

I keep a set binder for XY Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the XY Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Groudon can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards and Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. I still need this card.
