Salamence XY59/211 · XY Black Star Promos

Salamence is Pokédex #373, generation 3 (Hoenn). Salamence is a Stage 2 Dragon Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Shelgon. In this catalog that name is Shelgon (#372).

Salamence sits at XY59/211 in XY Black Star Promos, position 59 of 216. Before it is XY58 Malamar, and after it is XY60 Gyarados. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on 12 October 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

The attack Call for Goons lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Search your deck for up to 3 Basic Pokémon and put them onto your Bench. Shuffle your deck afterward. Dragon Pulse is another attack lists 130 damage. The cost is Fire, Water, Colorless, Colorless. Discard the top card of your deck. Weakness is Fairy ×2. Retreat cost is 2. Δ Evolution is the ancient trait on this card. You may play this card from your hand to evolve a Pokémon during your first turn or the turn you play that Pokémon. The flavor text reads "It's uncontrollable if enraged. It flies around spouting flames and scorching fields and mountains."

Salamence (#373) has 30 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2026. The earliest other card is Salamence 10/97 in Dragon (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Naoki Saito illustrated this one. 27 other cards of Salamence list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Naoki Saito. I count 270 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY Black Star Promos set binder is where a full XY Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Salamence can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
