Dark Muk 41/82 · Team Rocket

Team Rocket is a set in the Base series. It was released on April 24, 2000. The printed size is 82. This checklist is longer, at 83 cards. Dark Muk is 41/82, in position 41 of 83 on this checklist. Before it is 40 Dark Machoke, and after it is 42 Dark Persian. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Dark Muk is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 60 HP. The card lists level 25. In the Pokédex this is Muk (#089), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Grimer. In this catalog that name is Grimer (#088).

Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this card. The same name is on 656 other cards in the catalog.

Muk (#089) has 31 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Muk 13/62 in Fossil (1999). That card is named Muk, while this one is Dark Muk. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this one. 31 other cards of Muk list a different HP.

Sticky Goo is listed as Pokémon Power. As long as Dark Muk is your Active Pokémon, your opponent pays ColorlessColorless more to retreat his or her Active Pokémon. This power stops working while Dark Muk is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. The attack Sludge Punch lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass. The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "Muks appear suddenly, spreading sludge everywhere. Whenever one appears in a city, panic ensues."

I keep a set binder for Team Rocket, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Team Rocket set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Muk can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Team Rocket cards. I still need this card.
