Mew 47/53 · Wizards Black Star Promos

Mew is Pokédex #151, generation 1 (Kanto). Mew is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 40 HP. The card lists level 8.

Mew sits at 47/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos, position 47 of 53. Before it is 46 Electabuzz, and after it is 48 Articuno. The set belongs to the Base series. It was released on July 1, 1999. The printed size is 53, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

Neutral Shield is listed as Pokémon Power. Prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Mew by Evolved Pokémon. You can't use this power if Mew is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. The attack Psyshock lists 10 damage. The cost is Psychic. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Confused. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "So rare that it is still said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide."

Mew (#151) has 60 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 35 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Mew 8/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card lists 50 HP, and this one lists 40 HP. Both list the rarity Promo. 59 other cards of Mew list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ken Sugimori. I count 1,112 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Wizards Black Star Promos set binder is where a full Wizards Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Mew can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
