Gyarados 31/113 · Legendary Treasures

Legendary Treasures is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on November 6, 2013. The printed size is 113. This checklist is longer, at 140 cards. Gyarados is 31/113, in position 31 of 140 on this checklist. Before it is 30 Magikarp, and after it is 32 Articuno. The listed rarity is Rare.

Gyarados is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 130 HP. In the Pokédex this is Gyarados (#130), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Magikarp. In this catalog that name is Magikarp (#129).

hatachu illustrated this card. The same name is on 31 other cards in the catalog.

Gyarados (#130) has 56 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 38 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2025. The earliest other card is Gyarados 6/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and hatachu illustrated this one. 43 other cards of Gyarados list a different HP.

The attack Howling Rampage lists 20+ damage. The cost is Water, Colorless. Does 20 damage times the number of Prize cards both players have taken. Hydro Splash is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "Once it begins to rampage, a Gyarados will burn everything down, even in a harsh storm."

I keep a set binder for Legendary Treasures, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Legendary Treasures set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Gyarados can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Magikarp and Gyarados. I still need this card.
