Scolipede 40/98 · Emerging Powers

Emerging Powers is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on August 31, 2011. The printed size is 98, and the checklist is the same length. Scolipede is 40/98, in position 40 of 98 on this checklist. Before it is 39 Whirlipede, and after it is 41 Sigilyph. The listed rarity is Rare.

Scolipede is a Stage 2 Psychic Pokémon with 140 HP. In the Pokédex this is Scolipede (#545), generation 5 (Unova). The card says it evolves from Whirlipede. In this catalog that name is Whirlipede (#544).

kawayoo illustrated this card. The same name is on 209 other cards in the catalog.

Scolipede (#545) has 8 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Scolipede 54/114 in Black & White (2011). That card lists 150 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare. Masakazu Fukuda illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 8 other cards of Scolipede list a different HP.

The attack Toxic Claws lists 30 damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Put 2 damage counters instead of 1 on that Pokémon between turns. Wild Horn is another attack lists 50+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 20 more damage for each heads. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "With quick movements, it chases down its foes, attacking relentlessly with its horns until it prevails."

I keep a set binder for Emerging Powers, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Emerging Powers set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Scolipede can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
