Raichu 40/99 · Next Destinies

Next Destinies is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on February 8, 2012. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 103 cards. Raichu is 40/99, in position 40 of 103 on this checklist. Before it is 39 Pikachu, and after it is 41 Zapdos. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Raichu is a Stage 1 Lightning Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Raichu (#026), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Pikachu. In this catalog that name is Pikachu (#025).

Naoki Saito illustrated this card. The same name is on 270 other cards in the catalog.

Raichu (#026) has 70 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 51 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raichu 14/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Naoki Saito illustrated this one. 55 other cards of Raichu list a different HP.

The attack Thundershock lists 20 damage. The cost is Lightning. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Slam is another attack lists 80× damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 80 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its tail discharges electricity into the ground, protecting it from getting shocked."

I keep a set binder for Next Destinies, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Next Destinies set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raichu can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
