Zapdos 41/99 · Next Destinies

Zapdos is Pokédex #145, generation 1 (Kanto). Zapdos is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 120 HP.

Zapdos sits at 41/99 in Next Destinies, position 41 of 103. Before it is 40 Raichu, and after it is 42 Shinx. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on February 8, 2012. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 103 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Random Spark lists no damage number. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 50 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Thundering Hurricane is another attack lists 50× damage. The cost is Lightning, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 4 coins. This attack does 50 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A legendary Pokémon that is said to live in thunderclouds. It freely controls lightning bolts."

Zapdos (#145) has 49 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 34 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Zapdos 16/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 39 other cards of Zapdos list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ryo Ueda. I count 462 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Next Destinies set binder is where a full Next Destinies set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Zapdos can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
