Blastoise 137/135 · Plasma Storm

Blastoise is Pokédex #009, generation 1 (Kanto). Blastoise is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 140 HP. The card says it evolves from Wartortle. In this catalog that name is Wartortle (#008).

Blastoise sits at 137/135 in Plasma Storm, position 137 of 138. Before it is 136 Charizard, and after it is 138 Random Receiver. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on February 6, 2013. The printed size is 135. This checklist is longer, at 138 cards. The collector number is above the printed set size of 135. The listed rarity is Rare Secret.

Deluge is listed as Ability. As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may attach a Water Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon. The attack Hydro Pump lists 60+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Does 10 more damage for each Water Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "This extremely rare Pokémon is a different color than usual. It is very hard to find."

Blastoise (#009) has 44 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 26 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2024. The earliest other card is Blastoise 2/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Secret. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Ayaka Yoshida illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 42 other cards of Blastoise list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ayaka Yoshida. I count 128 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Plasma Storm set binder is where a full Plasma Storm set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blastoise can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
