Charizard 5/18 · Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on April 5, 2019. The printed size is 18, and the checklist is the same length. Charizard is 5/18, in position 5 of 18 on this checklist. Before it is 4 Charmander, and after it is 6 Arcanine. The listed rarity is Rare Ultra.

Charizard is a Stage 2 Fire Pokémon with 180 HP. In the Pokédex this is Charizard (#006), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Charmeleon. In this catalog that name is Charmeleon (#005).

Framestore illustrated this card. The same name is on 10 other cards in the catalog.

Charizard (#006) has 106 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 50 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Charizard 4/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Ultra. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Framestore illustrated this one. 98 other cards of Charizard list a different HP.

The attack Slash lists 70 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Wild Tackle is another attack lists 180 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. This Pokémon does 50 damage to itself. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "When expelling a blast of superhot fire, the red flame at the tip of its tail burns more intensely."

I keep a set binder for Detective Pikachu, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Detective Pikachu set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Charizard can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are All Charizard cards. I still need this card.
