Raikou 16/132 · Secret Wonders

Raikou is Pokédex #243, generation 2 (Johto). Raikou is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 80 HP. The card lists level 42.

Raikou sits at 16/132 in Secret Wonders, position 16 of 132. Before it is 15 Mew, and after it is 17 Roserade. The set belongs to the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on November 1, 2007. The printed size is 132, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Thunder Rumble is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), when you attach a Lightning Energy card from your hand to Raikou, you may put 1 damage counter on 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. The attack Thunder Climb lists 50+ damage. The cost is Lightning, Lightning, Lightning. Discard 3 cards from the top of your deck. This attack does 50 damage plus 10 more damage for each Lightning Energy card you discarded. Then, attach those Lightning Energy cards to 1 of your Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting +20. Resistance is Metal -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It is said to have fallen with lightning. It can fire thunderbolts from the rain clouds on its back."

Raikou (#243) has 26 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Raikou 13/64 in Neo Revelation (2001). Both list 80 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Ryo Ueda illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 23 other cards of Raikou list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ryo Ueda. I count 462 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Secret Wonders set binder is where a full Secret Wonders set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Raikou can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
