Dragonite 9/165 · Expedition Base Set

Expedition Base Set is a set in the E-Card series. It was released on September 15, 2002. The printed size is 165, and the checklist is the same length. Dragonite is 9/165, in position 9 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 8 Cloyster, and after it is 10 Dugtrio. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Dragonite is a Stage 2 Colorless Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Dragonite (#149), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Dragonair. In this catalog that name is Dragonair (#148).

Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this card. The same name is on 656 other cards in the catalog.

Dragonite (#149) has 48 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 30 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Dragonite 5/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this one. 42 other cards of Dragonite list a different HP.

Tailwind is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), if Dragonite is on your Bench, you may reduce your Active Pokémon's Retreat Cost to 0. The attack Dragon Tail lists 40× damage. The cost is Lightning, Water, Fighting. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 40 damage times the number of heads. Retreat cost is 2.

I keep a set binder for Expedition Base Set, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Expedition Base Set set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Dragonite can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
