Golduck 17/100 · Sandstorm

Sandstorm is a set in the EX series. It was released on September 18, 2003. The printed size is 100, and the checklist is the same length. Golduck is 17/100, in position 17 of 100 on this checklist. Before it is 16 Espeon, and after it is 18 Kecleon. The listed rarity is Rare.

Golduck is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Golduck (#055), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Psyduck. In this catalog that name is Psyduck (#054).

Hajime Kusajima illustrated this card. The same name is on 206 other cards in the catalog.

Golduck (#055) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 20 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Golduck 35/62 in Fossil (1999). Both list 70 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Hajime Kusajima illustrated this one. 16 other cards of Golduck list a different HP.

Chaos Flash is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), if Golduck is your Active Pokémon, you may flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon (choose 1 if there are 2) is now Confused. This power can't be used if Golduck is affected by a Special Condition. The attack Special Blow lists 30+ damage. The cost is Water, Psychic. If the Defending Pokémon has any Special Energy cards attached to it, this attack does 30 damage plus 40 more damage. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Sandstorm, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Sandstorm set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Golduck can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
