Kabuto 39/100 · Sandstorm

Sandstorm is a set in the EX series. It was released on September 18, 2003. The printed size is 100, and the checklist is the same length. Kabuto is 39/100, in position 39 of 100 on this checklist. Before it is 38 Illumise, and after it is 40 Kirlia. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Kabuto is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 60 HP. In the Pokédex this is Kabuto (#140), generation 1 (Kanto). The card says it evolves from Mysterious Fossil. The card lists Kabutops, Kabutops (#141) under evolves to.

Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card. The same name is on 408 other cards in the catalog.

Kabuto (#140) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2023. The earliest other card is Kabuto 50/62 in Fossil (1999). That card lists 30 HP, and this one lists 60 HP. The rarity there is Common, and here it is Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Atsuko Nishida illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 10 other cards of Kabuto list a different HP.

Exoskeleton is listed as Poké-Body. Any damage done to Kabuto by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Team Assembly lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Search your deck for Omanyte, Kabuto, or any Basic Pokémon and put as many of them as you like onto your Bench. Shuffle your deck afterward. Treat the new Benched Pokémon as Basic Pokémon. Pierce is another attack lists 20 damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2.

I keep a set binder for Sandstorm, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Sandstorm set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Kabuto can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
