Blaine's Moltres 1/132 · Gym Heroes

Gym Heroes is a set in the Gym series. It was released on August 14, 2000. The printed size is 132, and the checklist is the same length. Blaine's Moltres is 1/132, in position 1 of 132 on this checklist. The next card is 2 Brock's Rhydon. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Blaine's Moltres is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 44. In the Pokédex this is Moltres (#146), generation 1 (Kanto).

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Moltres (#146) has 43 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 29 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Moltres 21/53 in Wizards Black Star Promos (1999). That card is named Moltres, while this one is Blaine's Moltres. That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Ken Sugimori illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 3. 43 other cards of Moltres list a different HP.

The attack Phoenix Flame lists 90 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire. Flip a coin. If tails, shuffle Blaine's Moltres and all cards attached to it into your deck (after doing damage). Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 3.

I keep a set binder for Gym Heroes, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Gym Heroes set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Moltres can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Trainer's Pokémon, Legendary birds, Kanto Gym Leaders and their Pokémon, Blaine and his Pokémon, and Card number 1. I still need this card.
