Bayleef 28/111 · Neo Genesis

Neo Genesis is a set in the Neo series. It was released on December 16, 2000. The printed size is 111, and the checklist is the same length. Bayleef is 28/111, in position 28 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 27 Ariados, and after it is 29 Bayleef. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Bayleef is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 38. In the Pokédex this is Bayleef (#153), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Chikorita. In this catalog that name is Chikorita (#152). The card lists Meganium, Meganium (#154) under evolves to.

Ken Sugimori illustrated this card. The same name is on 1,112 other cards in the catalog.

Bayleef (#153) has 11 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 11 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Bayleef 29/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. 8 other cards of Bayleef list a different HP.

The attack Poisonpowder lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned. Pollen Shield is another attack lists 30 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. During your opponent's next turn, Bayleef can't become Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, or Poisoned. (All other effects of attacks, Pokémon Powers and Trainer cards still happen.) Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A spicy aroma emanates from around its neck. The aroma acts as a stimulant to restore health."

I keep a set binder for Neo Genesis, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Neo Genesis set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Bayleef can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
