Ninetales 36/127 · Platinum

Ninetales is Pokédex #038, generation 1 (Kanto). Ninetales is a Stage 1 Fire Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 43. The card says it evolves from Vulpix. In this catalog that name is Vulpix (#037).

Ninetales sits at 36/127 in Platinum, position 36 of 133. Before it is 35 Luvdisc, and after it is 37 Palkia. The set belongs to the Platinum series. It was released on February 11, 2009. The printed size is 127. This checklist is longer, at 133 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Flame Bash lists no damage number. Flip a coin until you get tails. Search your deck for a number of basic Fire Energy cards up to the number of heads and attach them to any of your Pokémon in any way you like. Shuffle your deck afterward. Mysterious Flames is another attack lists 40 damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless. If you have more Energy in play than your opponent, the Defending Pokémon is now Burned and Confused. Weakness is Water +20. The flavor text reads "Its nine tails are said to be imbued with a mystic power. It can live for a thousand years."

Ninetales (#038) has 55 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 40 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 1999 to 2026. The earliest other card is Ninetales 12/102 in Base (1999). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Suwama Chiaki illustrated this one. 45 other cards of Ninetales list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Suwama Chiaki. I count 102 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Platinum set binder is where a full Platinum set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Ninetales can fill a slot in Generation 1 binder (Kanto). I still need this card.
